Melbourne Konkan Community Announces New Committee for 2025–2026

 


The Melbourne Konkan Community Inc. (MKC) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday, 20 October 2025, at St James the Apostle Community Hall, Hoppers Crossing, where members came together to celebrate the past year’s achievements and welcome a new leadership team for the year ahead.


We are delighted to announce Mr. Maxim Rego as the new President of MKC. Having been an active member of the community for many years, Maxim brings a wealth of experience, understanding, and passion for community building. His focus for the coming year will be to strengthen connections, encourage youth engagement, and continue celebrating our rich Konkani culture.

This year marks an exciting new chapter for MKC, as we welcome Youth Representatives to the committee for the very first time. This initiative aims to give our younger members a platform to voice their ideas, develop leadership skills, and play an active role in shaping MKC’s future. Their enthusiasm and fresh perspectives will be invaluable as we continue to grow as a community.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the outgoing committee led by Rita Fernandes for their dedication, hard work, and outstanding leadership over the past year. Your efforts have strengthened MKC and built a strong foundation for continued success.


A special thank you to Deacon Royden D’Souza, who shared meaningful insights during the AGM about spirituality in leadership, teamwork, and staying united in purpose. His message reminded us that MKC’s true strength lies in its togetherness.


We also express our gratitude to Stephen D’Souza, the Returning Officer, for conducting the AGM and elections in accordance with Victorian by-laws and ensuring a smooth and transparent process.

Finally, thank you to all MKC members who attended the AGM and continue to support our initiatives. It’s always wonderful to see new members stepping forward to contribute while being guided by the wisdom of our senior members.

With renewed vision and energy, the new committee is ready to lead MKC into another successful year — one filled with celebration, service, and community spirit. 🌿💙

These awards aim to applaud and honor individuals who have not only excelled in their respective fields but have also made a significant impact on our community. In 2023, we are thrilled to have honored two outstanding individuals: Mira D'Silva and Nadine D'Silva. A Successful Evening of Connections at Our First Singles Dating Event!

We are thrilled to share the success of our first-ever singles dating event, which took place recently at Duke of Wellington Pub in Melbourne CBD. It was an evening filled with laughter, conversation, and the beginning of many new friendships. Neel Carvalho, our fantastic MC for the evening, ensured everything ran smoothly, guiding participants through a variety of fun icebreaker games that kept everyone engaged and comfortable. From the moment our guests arrived, the atmosphere was vibrant, with everyone eager to mingle and make new connections. The event kicked off with an energetic round of  Two Truths and a Lie, where participants had the chance to share interesting facts about themselves and guess what was true.
