Celebrating Excellence: MKC Awards 2023 Honor Mira D'Silva and Nadine D'Silva

In the spirit of recognizing and celebrating exceptional achievements within our community, the Melbourne Konkan Community (MKC) introduced the inaugural MKC Awards at this year's Monthi Fest. These awards aim to applaud and honor individuals who have not only excelled in their respective fields but have also made a significant impact on our community. In 2023, we are thrilled to have honored two outstanding individuals: Mira D'Silva and Nadine D'Silva.

Mira D'Silva: A Trailblazer in Leadership

Mira D'Silva's journey is nothing short of inspirational. Armed with a Master of Human Resources, she ventured to Melbourne in 2004. In 2006, she co-founded Delivery Centric, a highly regarded IT consulting services organization, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to business excellence.

However, it's not just in the business world where Mira shines. In 2019, she took a bold step into the political arena, joining the Australian Liberal Party (ALP). Her unwavering dedication led her to contest the Australian Federal elections in May 2022 from the seat of Maribyrnong in Melbourne's west, making her the first Mangalorean Catholic to venture into politics.

Beyond her professional achievements, Mira has consistently demonstrated her commitment to enhancing the lives of vulnerable members of our society, particularly senior citizens. Her work in empowering them with essential cybersecurity skills showcases her dedication to their well-being.

Her invaluable contributions to MKC events over the years have not gone unnoticed. Mira's tireless efforts in both her career and her service to the community make her a true role model for all of us.
Nadine D'Silva: A Rising Star in Sports

Nadine D'Silva is a name that promises a bright future in the world of sports. Her athletic journey began at the tender age of five, and since then, she has continued to shine brightly.

Nadine's pursuit of excellence led her to the Melton Hockey Club in 2018. She quickly mastered the skills required for successful hockey playing, from skating proficiency to puck handling and precision in passing and receiving. Her fearlessness in embracing body contact and her mastery of puck shooting set her apart as a rising young talent.

Nadine's achievements include participating in two Junior State championships in 2022 and 2023, representing the North West Metro Tigers, Essendon. Her stellar performances earned her a coveted spot on the Victoria State team in 2023, set to compete in the Australia-wide School Sports games.

These awards not only recognize the exceptional achievements of Mira and Nadine but also serve as an inspiration to all MKC members to aim high in their respective fields and make a positive impact on our community.
