Meet Our Treasurer 2024-2025– Elias Mascarenhas!

I hail from Puttur Parish belonging to Mangalore Diocese. 
I am basically from an agricultural family and had my education till graduation in Puttur itself. I am an alumni of St Philomena college, Puttur. I did my CA and LLB in Mangalore. I have also did my CPA after migrating to Australia. 

After working for few years in Govt Dept at Mangalore, I worked for 13 years in Dubai and then moved to Australia back in the year 2006. I worked for few years for different companies and also had a brief stint of running a fruit and veg partnership business for 7 years. 

We are 4 siblings and 3 of my siblings have chosen the religious vocation. I consider myself as lost sheep in the family and at times I jokingly tease my wife stating that this Eve has tempted me with an apple for a matrimonial alliance!. I am married to Alzira in the year 1991 and I have two grown up sons Elroy and Kenrick aged 26 and 24.


During spare time, I like to watch Konkani related programs which are available online. I am passionate about the gardening too. My favourite Mangalorean food is fish curry rice. 

I have regularly been associated with social activities right from my college days and subsequent periods. I have held one or other office bearer positions in different organizations such as Rotaract club, Emirates Putturians in Dubai, Mangalorean Catholic Association of Victoria (MCAV), Melbourne CA Chapter, MKC, Toastmasters club, etc at different times. 

I always believe in simplicity and remain grateful to the Almighty Lord for all the blessings showered on me. Remaining gratefulness to anyone who has contributed to my empowerment is the virtue I cherish always.

I was born and raised in the city of Mumbai, with two brothers—an older and a younger one. Though I grew up in Mumbai, my family roots are in Mangalore. My father hails from the beautiful village of Yekkar, and my mother’s side is from Permude. Mangalore has always felt like home, and some of my most cherished memories are from the school holidays spent visiting my grandparents, extended family and cousins I got married in 2004 and, in 2006, my husband Jerry Fernandes and I moved to Melbourne.
