What a magical evening it was at the Djerring Flemington Hub as over 200 Mangaloreans gathered to celebrate the holiday spirit, and more eager to join the festivities on the day!
🎉 This heartwarming turnout reflects how welcoming and vibrant the MKC community truly is. To all Mangaloreans in Melbourne, we encourage you to join us for our future events – there’s always room for more joy and togetherness! ❤️

From soul-stirring carols and a captivating Nativity play to elegant face painting, exciting games for kids and adults, and delightful gifts for our seniors – the evening was packed with fun and laughter! Special shoutout to our Kuswar Contest winners – Edaline D’Souza and Charmaine Lobo – for showcasing the most incredible homemade platters. The Kids’ Christmas Dress-Up brought the magic to life, with Joseph, Mary, Elves, and Shepherds gracing the stage in style. 🎅✨ And of course, Santa Claus jingled his way into our hearts, spreading smiles and cheer!

I was born and raised in the city of Mumbai, with two brothers—an older and a younger one. Though I grew up in Mumbai, my family roots are in Mangalore. My father hails from the beautiful village of Yekkar, and my mother’s side is from Permude. Mangalore has always felt like home, and some of my most cherished memories are from the school holidays spent visiting my grandparents, extended family and cousins I got married in 2004 and, in 2006, my husband Jerry Fernandes and I moved to Melbourne. We are blessed with two wonderful daughters, Shania and Kiara. When it comes to hobbies, I love traveling—especially to places with mountains or scenic views. In the spirit of recognizing and celebrating exceptional achievements within our community, the Melbourne Konkan Community (MKC) introduced the inaugural MKC Awards at this year's Monthi Fest. These awards aim to applaud and honor individuals who have not only excelled in their respective fields but have also made a significant impact on our community. In 2023, we are thrilled to have honored two outstanding individuals: Mira D'Silva and Nadine D'Silva.
