Just about 1.5–2 hours north of Melbourne, there’s a small rural town called Mangalore, Victoria and it has a fascinating connection to Mangalore (Mangaluru), India. ๐Ÿคฏ

The Australian Mangalore was named back in 1838 by Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Anderson, a British officer who named his pastoral run after the Indian military station of Mangalore, where his brother was stationed.

So the name travelled from India to Australia almost 200 years ago! ๐ŸŒ⏳
