MKC Way of the Cross 2026
A Day of Prayer, Reflection, and Community at Bacchus Marsh
The Melbourne Konkan Community gathered in large numbers on Sunday, 22 March 2026, for the annual Way of the Cross held at the serene hill grounds of Our Lady Ta’ Pinu Shrine, Bacchus Marsh. It was a spiritually enriching afternoon marked by solemn reflection, meaningful prayer, and deep community connection.
A Pilgrimage Experience on the Hill
The warm weather added both challenge and significance to the walk up the hill, encouraging participants to reflect more deeply on the journey of Christ. The shared experience of climbing together as one community made the devotion especially moving and unifying.
The Way of the Cross served as a powerful reminder of faith, sacrifice, and the hope we embrace as we prepare for Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week.
Konkani Mass Celebrated by Fr. Jacob Alvares
Following the Stations, the community came together for a beautifully celebrated Konkani Mass by Fr. Jacob Alvares. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fr. Jacob for his continued support and willingness to be present with the MKC community whenever called upon. We pray that God may bless him abundantly with good health and strength always.
In his sermon, Fr. Jacob reflected on the compassionate presence of Jesus in moments of grief and hardship. His message highlighted three profound truths:A heartfelt thank you to:
✅ The Venue / Shrine team
✅ The MKC Committee members who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make these events meaningful
He reminded us that in challenging moments, our faith—simply believing and trusting in Jesus—brings the light of hope and resurrection into our lives.
Community Fellowship
After Mass, members of the MKC community enjoyed a time of fellowship, conversation, and connection. Families and friends gathered to share refreshments, reflect on the afternoon’s spiritual experience, and strengthen community bonds. It was a day that truly embodied faith, unity, and togetherness.
