The Melbourne Konkan Community (MKC) made history this June by hosting our first-ever Basketball Tournament , and what a phenomenal day it turned out to be! From enthusiastic young players to spirited parents and roaring supporters, the event saw over 130 people come together , turning a regular Sunday into something truly special. πŸŒ… Early Start, High Energy The day kicked off bright and early at 8:30 am with registrations. The venue was alive with energy – the sound of bouncing basketballs, upbeat music, and excited chatter filled the air. After a warm welcome, MKC Treasurer Elias Mascarenhas led a heartfelt prayer, and President Rota set the tone with a message about playing responsibly, especially when teamed with our younger participants. πŸ€ Let the Games Begin! What an incredible day it was — a true celebration of womanhood, resilience, wellness, and community connection. πŸ’– The event was beautifully led by Emcee Sheba D’Souza, along with her lovely daughters Nikita and Namita, who brought their warmth, charisma, and vibrant energy to the stage. From the opening to the final farewell, they carried the crowd through moments of reflection, laughter, and celebration with grace and heart. πŸ’« 🌿 The afternoon opened with a powerful session of self-reflection, encouraging every woman in the room to pause, look inward, and honour the strength and value they carry within. 🍽 A vibrant lunch followed, where delicious food met even better company.
