The Melbourne Konkan Community has been a beacon of pride for the past fifteen years, tirelessly working to unite Mangalore-origin Catholic people. Our mission is to promote the culture, heritage, Konkani language, values, and rituals of our Motherland and to ensure that these traditions are passed on to future generations, a task we undertake with unwavering dedication and a deep sense of connection. Year after year, more than two thousand people attend various programs organized by MKC, which helps us develop brotherhood, foster relationships, and contribute to the development of the wider community, our state, and our nation. We, the Melbourne Konkan Community, take this opportunity to honour one of our founding members with great pride and gratitude. Their immense contributions to MKC and the wider community in Melbourne’s west have left an indelible mark. 🌟 MKC Youth Day Out: A Grand Success at Enchanted Adventure!🌟

Image
What an incredible day of adventure and fun as our MKC Youth Day Out took place today at the stunning Enchanted Adventure G arden, with the support of the Victorian Government! 24 young people from our community came together to conquer the thrilling Grand Tree Surfing, zip-lining, and aerial challenges! We organized two groups—under 17s and over 17s—so that everyone could relate and connect. With over 50 obstacles and 5 challenging levels, it was amazing to see almost everyone conquer all the courses! By the end of it, the zip-lining had everyone exhausted but buzzing with excitement. Afterward, we relaxed with delicious pizzas, laughter, and new friendships formed along the way. Our awesome youth leaders, Rhea and Ethan, did a fantastic job planning the day. From arranging pickup points across Melbourne (thanks to Ethan for coordinating that!) to making sure every participant was involved, the event was an absolute success! Even the scattered showers couldn’t dampen our spiri...

The Melbourne Konkan Community (MKC) recently hosted its much-anticipated Monthi Fest at Williamstown Town Hall in Williamstown Victoria, a treasured celebration of the Nativity of Mother Mary, and what a heartwarming day it was! Deeply rooted in Mangalorean culture, the day saw over 750 attendees come together in a vibrant display of faith, tradition, and unity, reminding us of the ties that bind us to our cultural roots. The veneration of Mother Mary, a practice passed down through generations, was beautifully witnessed as children joyfully showered flowers before the statue of Mary. This long-standing tradition from Mangalore is not just a symbol of devotion, but also a cherished moment that ties the younger generation to their heritage, keeping our culture alive in lands far from home. Seeing the smiles and laughter of the little ones as they participated in this act of love for Mother Mary was a truly emotional moment for all present.  Fr. Prakash Menezes, who flew ...
